Sammy

Sammy was found as a stray in Kentucky and brought in by animal control on April 7th. A plea on his behalf was sent to NorthStar & Sammy is now part of the NorthStar Pet Rescue family.

Sammy is a sweetheart of a dog! He is a 40-pound senior Australian Cattle Dog who is blind and who needs some help getting around. He has passed his dog-to-dog testing and is just a good-hearted easygoing guy.

Sammy is currently in a loving foster home in NJ – he is settling in now & is eating well. In fact he gets so excited to eat! 🙂 His foster mom has taught him how to go up & down stairs – he uses a leash & his “mom” is right beside him. Foster mom had a hard time getting him up to walk to the door but once in the yard, Sammy pulls her around like crazy. He’s had no accidents in the house because he is taken out regularly. At night he stays in an extra large crate in case he wants to wander but any small room where he couldn’t hurt himself is fine. He is quiet in the crate & sleeps quite peacefully in there.

Sammy is learning to navigate the kitchen in his foster home. His tail now wags and he is finally starting to play with toys which seem to be a new thing for him. Sammy is so quiet and loving – he likes to lay in foster mom’s lap & just be petted.

Sammy is a nice quiet dog who would do well with an older person or anybody really who has lots of patience and who has minimal steps to the outdoors.

If you’d like to provide Sammy with a loving forever home, please complete a dog adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for SAMMY KY!
