Better Together!

Our Rescue Partners

NorthStar Pet Rescue has built a network of partner organizations and volunteers in Texas, New Jersey, and across the country. Following are just a few of the groups that we actively work with in order to help as many dogs as possible. Please consider suporting them with a donation!

The Saving Hope Foundation is determined to put an end to animal abuse and neglect by attacking the overpopulation problem in the Fort Worth area and putting an emphasis on education and adoption. The Saving Hope Foundation was inspired by the amazing story of Hope, a 30-pound bundle of courage, who was betrayed, brutalized and left for dead on a country road in Weatherford Texas.

“We want something good to come out of this horrible thing that happened to Hope,” said Kit Moncrief, who adopted Hope and helped start the Saving Hope Foundation.

The Foundation is focused on animal abuse, animal neglect and overpopulation. It is determined to put an emphasis on education, especially about spaying, neutering and vaccinations. Saving Hope also wants to help those who struggle to keep their pets because of economic hardships.

NorthStar assists the Saving Hope Foundation with rescue placement.

Bluebonnet Animal Rescue Network (BARN), founded in 2013, is a small organization in North Texas with a heart for saving Great Pyrenees and other Big White Dogs.  BARN rescues dogs from high kill “shelters” in Texas, Oklahoma, and other neighboring states and works diligently to find the best home for each one, whether it’s as a livestock guardian dog or house pet. BARN is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization, so your donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. With no expensive facility to maintain, and no paid staff, you can be sure all donations go directly to the care of rescued animals.

NorthStar Pet Rescue assists BARN with rescue placement of dogs into loving homes in the NJ/NY/PA area.

Established in 2012, SAPA! is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created specifically to work in partnership with San Antonio Animal Care Services to reduce the number of adoptable animals euthanized in San Antonio. SAPA provides and supports programs that target at-risk shelter populations, such as neo-natal kittens and puppies, pets with treatable medical issues, and animals with behavior challenges. A no-kill community saves 90% of the animals that enter its shelter system, and SAPA! is proud to be part of San Antonio’s life-saving efforts.

SAPA! was founded by Dr. Ellen Jefferson, who was instrumental in establishing a similar program in Austin, TX, (Austin Pets Alive!) that resulted in that city attaining a no-kill status that’s been successfully maintained for the last 4 years. A nationally-recognized authority on community no-kill practices, Dr. Jefferson’s efforts in San Antonio established a model that’s resulted in remarkable success – more than 20,000 animals have been saved since 2012.

NorthStar Pet Rescue is an authorized rescue partner with SAPA and assists SAPA with rescue placement, especially with sick and injured dogs.

NorthStar Pet Rescue is a Rescue Partner at Palm Valley Animal Center (PVAC).  Palm Valley Animal Center is the only full service, open admission, animal intake facility in all of Hidalgo County. Receiving nearly 32,000 animals a year, PVAC is one of the largest single intake facilities in the nation. Adoption rates in this area of Texas are sadly very low and Spay/Neuter compliance in the community is so low as to be non-existant.  NorthStar Pet Rescue is one of many rescues desperately trying to improve the live release rate at this facility by rescuing dogs and bringing them to other parts of the country.
